True Love Waits Co-founder to Head Turning Hearts Tour

Richard Ross, co-founder of True Love Waits, an international movement encouraging abstinence before marriage, will be leading a nationwide tour in Spring 2006 to help parents and teenagers turn their hearts toward God and each other.

When his own son became a teenager, Ross devoted a 40-day period in which he read the Bible and other books in search of the key to unlocking healthy parent-teen relationships.

"I was searching for everything we know about relationships between parents and teenagers and how to keep that relationship vibrant," he said on the Turning Hearts Tour website.

Some of the the things he discovered during his 500 hours of reading and reflecting was that while a warm and close relationship between parent and teenager is essential for spiritual impact to flow from one generation to the next, each must learn to forgive what pain the other has caused them. Additionally, since some parents do not know the basics of good parenting, they are repeating the mistakes of their parents, and teens don't know the basics of living with parents so they cause family members pain.

Ross hopes to convey all his findings to parents and teenagers at all 19 venues of the tour.

"This is what the Turning Hearts conference is all about - turning the hearts of parents & teenagers toward each other! By the grace and power of God, Joel and I believe thousands of families will experience forgiveness, embrace new ways of living as families, and affirm parents as spiritual leaders - all in one weekend," continued Ross on the website.

The Turning Hearts tour will kick-off with its first gathering in Greenville, SC, on Feb. 3. Its theme is based on Malachi 4:6, where the prophet says, "He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse."

According to the tour's schedule, parents and teenagers will spend the day attending separate sessions but come together for worship gatherings and a common session. Other speakers during the event include worship leader and communicator to students Joel Engle and worship artist, interpreter, and communicator to studetns Tyra Lokey.

The tour is sponsored by Lifeway Christian Resources. More information on the Turning Hearts tour can be found at the event website, www.turningheartstour.com.
