Turing Phone Available for Pre-Order on July 31

The Turing Phone, which boasts of providing the ultimate security for smartphone data and having a case "stronger than steel," will be available for pre-order starting July 31. The phone's maker, Turing Robotic Industries, also announced that they will reveal available color options for the new phone on July 22. Those who will avail of the phone through the pre-order offer will also be receiving additional goodies the phone comes their way.

The new phone is made of a revolutionary liquid-metal which its manufacturer calls "liquidmorphium." A CNET report describes the material as "an amorphous alloy of zirconium, copper, aluminium, nickel and silver whose atomic structure is more like glass than like aluminium or steel." TRI also claims that because of this alloy, the phone's production produces a lot less waste and is therefore greener. Liquidmorphium is supposedly stronger than aluminium or steel thereby offering strength that is unrivaled by any other smartphone.

The phone's main attraction for consumers and buyers is its promise of ultra-security. Given that a lot of smartphone users nowadays rely on their smartphones not just for phone calls and SMS but also for personal and business purposes, data security is becoming a major concern. Most smartphones manage data through a third-party server that issues a security certificate. The Turing Phone manages data locally, through a built-in security chip called the Turing Imitation Key. Since encryption is being done locally, this keeps sensitive data offline and out of reach from hackers. Sharing sensitive data can now be done between Turing Phones.

The Tech Times report also mentioned a fingerprint sensor located on the side of the device. Through its own "protected communications network" which makes use of "end-to-end authentication," it makes sure that data transfer is safe and secure which is very ideal for mobile banking.

Other features of the phone that make it ultrafuturistic is its IPx8 waterproof rating, meaning it can be submerged under up to 30 feet of water.

The base model at 16 GB will cost $610, the 64 GB version will sell for $740 and the 128 GB one will be available for $870. Some of the extra goodies announced include "a bonus accessories package including a mobile Bluetooth keyboard, Bluetooth speaker, gaming Bluetooth headset and mobile gaming controller," said TRI in a statement.
