'Twin Peaks' Revival News: Season 3 Premieres May 21
Showtime has announced the first air date for "Twin Peaks," the revival version, and it will be on May 21. The entire series will have 18 episodes, each one an hour long. The first two episodes will be showing in the series premiere.
This is something that fans of the original "Twin Peaks" will be looking forward to, as most of the details of the new version have been guardedly kept secret. Co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost are back at the helm for the 2017 remake of the cult classic, along with a lot of the original cast, according to Digital Spy.
The series will be written and produced by Lynch and Frost, and the director's seat will be entirely under Lynch. Aside from the number of episodes and the premiere date, nothing else about the schedule of the show is set. As Showtime President David Nevins mentioned, "I want to embrace the unusualness of it, and I think it is quite possible we're not going to do a traditional release pattern ... I can definitely see longer episodes or the question of how we release it linearly and for those who want to stream it."

The story could follow Mark Frost's new book, "The Secret History of Twin Peaks." The setting is 25 years later, since Special Agent Dale Cooper's (Kyle Mclachlan) investigation of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). An agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is assigned to dig through a mysterious box of documentation that the bureau uncovered. In the dossier inside, she begins to learn the secrets of the town called Twin Peaks, and the trail left behind by Dale Cooper's investigation.
When asked if there will be yet another season for "Twin Peaks," series creator Frost answered "We've learned never to say never. Anything is a possibility ... I wouldn't think it will take us 25 years to decide the next time around."
