'Twin Peaks' Season 3 Spoilers, News: Reboot Still on Track Despite David Lynch's Comments

Fans of Showtime's beloved TV serial drama "Twin Peaks" need to breathe easy as recent news indicate that the show's much anticipated third season "is still apparently on track."

The update follows after show co-creator David Lynch released a statement during his latest art exhibition in Australia this weekend wherein he said the project is, for the meantime, still hanging on the air.

"I'm not sure at this point if it's happening .We are still working on a contract," Lynch said. "But I love the world of Twin Peaks, and I love those characters. I think it will be very special to go back into that world."

But that shouldn't dampen the spirits of those who rooted for the return of the crime and psychological thriller.

A report from Entertainment Weekly cited an unnamed source inside the network saying that the reboot is still moving forward and in no time will be arriving to the small screens.

"Nothing is going on that's any more than any preproduction process with David Lynch," the source said. "Everything is moving forward and everybody is crazy thrilled and excited."

In fact, a report from Twin Peaks fansite Welcome to Twin Peaks claimed that an insider informed them that the scripts for Season 3, which took about 4 years to complete, are already finished and delivered.

As for Lynch, Entertainment Weekly pointed out that his participation is "pretty crucial" for the development of the show. However, his involvement remains yet to be confirmed as he and the network are still "working on the contract" for his directorship.

"Twin Peaks" Season 3 is currently slated to return next year for a nine-episode run.
