Tyrese Overcame Paul Walker Death With 'God's Emails' and Fans Prayers

Tyrese Gibson is revealing how God's emails and prayers from his fans helped him overcome the death of his good friend and "Fast and Furious" franchise co-star Paul Walker.

While Walker, 40, was an experienced driver, he was the passenger in a vehicle driven by his friend and business partner Roger Rodas before both lost their lives last November. Tyrese, the 35-year-old singer and actor, has been publicly mourning his friend's death and recently told late night talk show host Arsenio Hall that he is finally getting over his depression.

"Everyone knows what ended up happening at the end of the year with Paul Walker my best man. I was with him four days before it happened," Tyrese revealed on the late night talk show "Arsenio". "We were on the [road] shooting and it was a lot of shock and trauma for the family and all of us involved because he's such a nice guy. I've never been depressed in my life but I was sad and down and it took me a minute to shake it."

However, Tyrese revealed how God inspired him to go to Dubai ended up changing his life. There, he met with his good friend Will Smith who helped him come out of his depression.

"I just turned 35," he said on Arsenio. "On a spiritual level I got this thing where I say God sends me emails about what to do, where to go, who to communicate and connect with and he sent me an email to go to Dubai."

Aside from a life changing trip, Tyrese spoke about his fans' prayers helping him heal emotionally from Walker's death.

"A lot of times, we can take people praying for granted, but it's really a form of rebuilding when you're in pain, confused and going through things," Tyrese said on the show. "So all of the prayers, tweets and posts and Instagram that you've sent all of us love ya'll and appreciate y'all and thank you. It really means a lot."

Tyrese previously let fans know that Bishop T.D. Jakes, the lead pastor at The Potter's House in Dallas, Texas also helped him overcome the pain of death.

"You will learn what all of us know who have lost people that we love. You'll be driving down the street one day and you'll hear Paul's voice talking in your head," Jakes said, according to Gibson's Instagram account. "Something he said or something he did will pop up in your spirit and you'll giggle inside of yourself as if he were sitting in the car with you. And you will find that people that you really love, they may leave you outwardly, but they never leave you inwardly."
