Tyson Fury Vs Wladimir Klitschko Rematch: Fury Hoping Rematch Happens 'ASAP'

Current IBO, WBA (Super), and WBO world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is already aching to have his rematch against the man he won the titles from, former long-time champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury and Klitschko faced each other for the first time on November 28, 2015, where the former was able to win a convincing unanimous decision verdict over "Dr. Steelhammer." Klitschko's loss marked the end of his nine-year world heavyweight title reign.

A few weeks after the fight, the Klitschko camp immediately announced that they would be exercising the rematch clause that was agreed upon during the pre-fight negotiations. Fury agreed, but was subsequently stripped of his IBF title for failing to face the organization's mandatory challenger, Vyacheslav Glazkov.

As of this posting, no final fight date has been determined. But according to a report by Edward Chaykovsky for Boxingscene, the rematch between Fury and Klitschko was originally slated for May 7th. However, these plans would not be pushing through after the middleweight title fight between champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Amir Khan was set for the said date.

As far as the venue goes, while Fury wants a fight in his home country of England in the United Kingdom, the Klitschko camp has control over the venue, as previously stipulated.

The report adds that the fight is being targeted for June, with Germany, the UK, and Ireland as possible venues. But for Fury's part, he is hopeful that the fight happens sooner than later.

"I am hoping it's [confirmed] ASAP," Fury said. "I don't care where, if I have to go to Germany again, OK. I'd prefer it to be in the UK because I want to the lions' den for him, I'd expect the favour returned."

The 27-year-old Fury adds that while his dream is to fight at the Old Trafford Stadium, which also happens to be the home turf of the Manchester United football club, getting to fight anywhere in the UK would be perfectly fine.
