UFC 190 News: Ronda Rousey KOs Bethe Correia in 34 Seconds (VIDEO)

Ronda Rousey defended her UFC Women's Bantamweight belt, taking down Brazilian Bethe Correia in only 34 seconds. She defeated the mixed martial artist during the UFC 190 in Rio De Janiero, Brazil on Saturday.

Rousey, who has had 11 wins in 11 fights so far, went into the fight against 9-win 1-loss mixed martial artist Correia at the HSBC Arena in the challenger's home country.

The fight had earlier been marketed as having a grudge component, with Correria allegedly fomenting bad blood with a tweet referencing Rousey's father's suicide when she was a child. Rousey took to Twitter in response, vowing to give Correia the "comeuppance" she deserved for involving her family in her pre-fight "trash talk."

With tensions high as the fight commenced, Rousey landed a knee, punches and uppercuts that pushed Correia to the edge of the cage, finishing her opponent off with a right hand shot to the temple, which toppled the Brazilian onto her face at the 34-second mark.

This marks the first fight the UFC champion relied on solely on hand strikes to defeat her opponent, particularly as Correia's strength as a striker was considered one of Rousey's weaknesses.

Referee John McCarthy quickly ended the fight, proclaiming Rousey the undefeated women's bantamweight champion.

During the post-fight interview, Rousey dedicated her win to the late professional wrestler Roddy "Rowdy" Piper, who had earlier on given Rousey the blessing to use his nickname in the Octagon.

Rousey also tearfully mentioned her late father, saying she hoped he had a good time watching her win against Correia.

The Saturday night UFC 190 fight wasn't one of Rousey's shortest victories, having previously downed American MMA fighter, Cat Zingano in 14 seconds during the UFC 184 in February this year.
