UFC 194 News: Michelle Waterson Is Out of the Fight Card Due to Injury

The fight lineup for UFC 194 has taken a blow with the news that Michelle Waterson has been injured and won't be able to proceed with the strawweight battle against Tecia Torres. The fight card slated on Dec.12 in Las Vegas is supposed to be a continuation of Waterson's good showing for the promotion after a stunning debut in July.

The American mixed martial artist with a record of 13-4 impressed a lot of observers after winning via third-round submission against Angela Magana. She's also in a hot streak right now, winning all but one of her last eight fights. Waterson is also a former Invicta FC atomweight champion and is a stunning and at the same time ferocious fighter inside the Pentagon.

The 29-year-old is supposed to be battling an equally formidable opponent in Torres, who has a record of 6-0 and never has tasted defeat as a pro fighter. Her last fight was a unanimous decision triumph against Angela Hill during UFC 188 last June.

MMAJunkie first reported about the pullout, to which UFC senior vice president of public relations Dave Sholler later confirmed via MMA Fighting. He added that Torres is still going to fight but they will have to find a replacement the soonest possible time. Although it's a non-title bout, Dana White promised that whoever wins the supposed matchup will be one step closer to the 115 pound title contention. The title is currently held by Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Fight Card Will Push Through

Despite Waterson's pullout, UFC 194 will push through, headlined by the featherweight championship fight between current champ Jose Aldo against interim champ Conor McGregor, while the co-main event features a middleweight encounter between Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold, for Weidman's title. Another bout pits Ronaldo Souza against Yoel Romero.

Based on the promotion from the UFC, this fight card is supposed to be the biggest of the year.
