UFC 196 News: Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos Promises To Subdue Conor McGregor

UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos has made things personal between him and featherweight champion/155-pound title challenger Conor McGregor.

"The Notorious," who is also known for his incessant trash talking, did not exempt dos Anjos from such mental warfare, just like how he did with former long-time featherweight champion José Aldo during the build-up of their UFC 194 title fight in December.

So much so that the brash Irishman even branded dos Anjos as a "bum version of Aldo" and criticized the Brazilian for moving permanently to the United States.

In his most recent appearance on MMA Fighting's The MMA Hour show, dos Anjos extensively fired back at McGregor.

Dos Anjos first lambasted McGregor's demeanor despite his appearance, noting how his challenger may be clad in expensive suits and driving fancy cars, but is somewhat lacking in class. He also noted how many mixed martial arts fans, including McGregor's fellow Irishmen, have come up to him to ask him to subdue him.

And while McGregor has repeatedly claimed that he is the UFC's "money fight," Dos Anjos belittled it by saying that it is just another fight for him, just another day in the office.

As an almost 12-year mixed martial arts veteran, dos Anjos has picked up a wealth of experience along the way. A black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he now trains with famed striking coach Rafael Cordeiro at the renowned Kings MMA gym in California.

This is where he feels he is at an advantage, as he believes he will be ready wherever the fight goes, may it be on the feet, or on the ground.

Finally, dos Anjos issued his prediction for the fight. According to him, the contest will not go to the judges' scorecards, as he intends to finish it within two or three rounds.

"This guy won't be able to handle me for more than two rounds," Dos Anjos said.

Dos Anjos vs. McGregor is slated to take place at the main event of UFC 196, which is scheduled for March 5th, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
