UFC News 2015: Floyd Mayweather Surprisingly Defends Ronda Rousey Amid the Bashing and Criticisms

The entire MMA and UFC are still in shock after the remarkable upset victory of Holly Holm against the once dominant Ronda Rousey on Saturday in Australia. The defeat ended Rousey's unbeaten streak and eventually producing a wave of criticisms and memes online.

It seemed like everyone was joining the bandwagon in criticizing the proud and confident Rousey, including Donald Trump, Lady Gaga, and Laila Ali. However, there's one prominent name that surprisingly took it easy on Rousey, and in fact, even defended her from all the bashing. This guy is someone you probably know — Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Rousey and the recently retired boxing great have a popular public beef when the former took exception to comments made by Mayweather about him not knowing who she was. Rousey even reached a point of talking about defeating Mayweather should they meet in the ring.

But Mayweather's take to Rousey's brutal loss is something everyone didn't expect. "Just in boxing period, contact sports period, you win some, you lose some," he said in a report from CBC Sports.

In an interview with FightHype, the former pound-for-pound best boxer in the world said that what everyone is doing to Rousey after the loss isn't healthy. "I don't think it's cool how everyone is trolling her on social media. Certain things you have to learn… People will love you on Friday and then Sunday morning, it's nothing but negative comments," he added.

Mayweather also said that the former women's bantamweight champion will be back and make noise once again. "In due time, she'll be able to bounce back and make some noise again in mixed martial arts," the undefeated fighter said.

He even went some great length by saying that he's willing to help Rousey improve her skills in boxing, something that obviously was exposed in her fight against a former boxing champion in Holm. If there's positive news for Rousey, it is the spreading rumor that she'll be given an immediate rematch by the UFC.
