UFC Rumors 2016: Heavyweight Title Rematch Between Stipe Miocic, Fabricio Werdum Being Set-Up For UFC 200?

Last Saturday night at UFC 198 in Curitiba, Brazil, the UFC heavyweight title changed hands once again.

Then number three ranked heavyweight contender Stipe Miocic was able to pull off an upset victory against now-former champion and mixed martial arts veteran Fabricio Werdum during the night's main event feature, as per MMA Fighting.

Miocic was able to stop the former PRIDE FC fighter right in the very first round, thanks to a straight left hand. For his feat, Miocic also got the Performance of the Night bonus of $50,000. Miocic's win marks the third time the title has changed hands since 2012 when Cain Velasquez won the title back from Junior Dos Santos.

For his part, the 38-year-old Werdum admitted that he may have been a little too "reckless" during the fight, which eventually led to his downfall.

"I had my vision too open. I needed to focus a little bit more on him," Werdum said during the post-fight press conference as reported by MMA Fighting. "Sometimes that happens. Your vision opens and in that moment he hit me and I didn't see it. It landed on the chin."

Werdum had been defeated fair and square, with no controversies. Yet, he has demanded an immediate rematch against Miocic, arguing the six-fight win streak he had on prior to UFC 198, and being the former champion.

"Vai Cavalho" also stated his intent to fight sooner than later, noting that he hopes the rematch would happen at UFC 200 in July.

"I think he was better than me, like I said. He was better than me, but I want to fight the sooner the better. Maybe at UFC 200 against him," Werdum said. "I know it'd be very difficult, but I would like to fight as soon as possible."

The report adds that Werdum was also given a 30-day suspension following the fight. As for a rematch, the UFC 200 card is already stacked and chances of it taking place are somehow slim. Despite that, anything is still possible, including a rematch between Miocic and Werdum.
