It was announced in July this year that Director-writer Joe Carnahan will be doing the screenwriting of the film. In the same report, Carnahan vaguely confirmed of his involvement as he was also taking the wheels for the filming of Bad Boys 3 which is slated to show on June 2 this year. However, he gave a statement that he would "love to do" the directing once the production pushes through.

No official statements nor reports from Sony has been found if the removal of the movie is caused by Carnahan's involvement with Bad Boys 3 and his other projects.

Anticipating fans can only hope for one thing: Carnahan says on his recent tweet that the opening scene for the Uncharted Movie is promising, based on the script he has started.

Carnahan is also known for his works as writer of NBC's The Black List series which started airing since year 2013.

The "Other" Directors

The movie has previously been handed to Award-winning Directors David O' Russell, Neil Burger and Seth Gordon before it finally landed to the hands of Carnahan.

Initial drafts were also previously handed and written by Award-winning writers Mark Boal of "Zero Dark Thirty" and "The Hurt Locker", "National Treasure's" Marriane and Cormac Wibberley, Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer of "Doctor Strange", and "David Guggenheim" of Safe House.

Meanwhile, the director of the movie's game version, Neil Druckmann, shared about Naughty Dog's supposed to be involvement with the production of the film.

He said that producers of the film often meet up and discuss about the relationship of the protagonist Nathan Drake with the other characters, Sully and Elena.

Druckmann says that the makers of the film need to arrive at one decision that will make the "core" right and once they get it, they can make the whole production work towards the success of the movie.

Other critics say that an "Uncharted Movie" is no longer necessary as stories derived from the cinematic game has already been portrayed and conveyed well in the series. The same critics say that with the amount left and with no move for its production yet, the movie may show but will less and mediocre quality than the series.

The Uncharted Movie is based on a PS3 videogame released in year 2007.
