The show has been very successful, and the executives who make programing decision took notice.

"This is the way television should be … ['Under the Dome' has] been a great new model," CBS Corp CEO Leslie Moonves said of the show and it's success, Deadline reports.

Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment President, released a statement about the show and it's upcoming second season.

"We're excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets in Chester's Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season," the statement said.

There is some concern that the believability of the show will come into question if the series continues for many seasons. After all, how long could a town actually survive being cut off from the rest of the world? How would they get food or medical supplies, for example?

But CBS doesn't seem too concerned with that issue.

When questioned as to the feasibility and lack of realism of a whole town continuing to live underneath a dome, Moonves simply said "Why can't they be under the dome for a long period of time? This is television."
