LG aims to target music enthusists in South Korea after it announced a new smartphone.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered smartphone comes with a QuadBeat 3 headset, which is a known local brand of audio devices. As far as the phone's hardware is concerned, it is strictly in the midrange department.

Dubbed as the LG Band Play, the handset packs a 5-inch display with an HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 2GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 410 chipset, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, and 16GB of built-in memory.

The device also has a microSD card slot, a 2,300mAh battery, and Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.

The phone's camera department is composed of a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP front shooter to cater to selfie enthusiasts. Other features of the LG Band Play include a set of 1W speakers, and interestingly a 'focus' feature that enables the phone to cut off any mobile or Internet signals.

In the report, the new LG smartphone costs about KRW 394,800 or about $356.

Aside from the handset, LG is also expected to make some announcements of new devices in the coming months, particularly in the third quarter. Last year, the Korean manufacturer announced the LG G3 earlier, and so it did not have any 'major' releases later that year.

However, this time around, a rumored LG phablet is reportedly under way.
