Amber Campbell and Rudy Winkler are among the latest additions to the rigorously screened delegates who will represent the United States of America for the 2016 Rio Olympics. The two athletes emerged victorious in the women's and men's hammer throw competitions during the Day 6 of the U.S.A. Track & Field Olympic Trials at the Historic Hayward Field of Eugene, Oregon.
Amber Campbell's Third Olympic Stint
Amber Campbell qualified for the Olympics for the third time after she dominated the women's hammer throw event during Day 6 of the U.S.A. Track & Field Olympic Trials, with the best throw of 74.03 meters. The 35-year-old Ohio native holds the record as the U.S. female athlete who has the longest hammer throw ever at the Olympics.

"The goal was always to win it… I was really hoping for the American record, but we'll see if I can get that in Rio." Amber Campbell said on her Twitter account. Campbell's victory during the Day 6 of the U.S.A. Track & Field Olympic Trials marked her fourth national title.
Aside from Campbell, Gwen Berry and Deanna Price have also qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics after taking the second and third spot of the women's hammer throw competition during the Day 6 of the U.S.A. Track & Field Olympic Trials. Berry finished with a throw of 73.09 meters while Price managed a throw of 71.22 meters.
Rudy Winkler is an Olympic First-Timer
Rudy Winkler will be going to the Olympics for the first time after he topped the men's hammer throw competition during the Day 6 of the U.S.A. Track & Field Olympic Trials. Winkler managed a throw of 76.76 meters, beating out Kibwe Johnson and Conor McCullough.
Johnson and McCullough have also qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Johnson, who represented U.S.A. in the 2012 London Olympics, finished with a throw of 75.11 meters, while McCullough, who will be joining the Olympics for the first time like Winkler, obtained a score of 74.16 meters during the Day 6 of the U.S.A. Track & Field Olympic Trials.
Moreover, the Day 6 of the U.S.A. Track & Field Olympic Trials was an emotional one for 2012 London Olympian A.G. Kruger who failed to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics after landing the fourth spot with 73.31 meters. "I'm probably done for my career… I thank God for giving me the chance to do this and have fun throughout all these years," Kruger told Oregon Live.
