USA vs. Argentina in the Men's Olympic Basketball at London 2012 will take place on Monday in undoubtedly Team USA's toughest match-up yet. The game will mark the final encounter before the elimination stage gets underway. The game starts at 5.15 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (details below).
The game is a repeat of the sides' exhibition match just a few weeks ago, which proved a very competitive tie.
Going into the game Team USA has a 4-0 record, with Argentina entering with a 3-1 record.
Team USA are undoubtedly the massive favorites going into the game. They have a line up consisting of the NBA's best players, and on their day they should be able to trounce even this strong Argentina side. However, nothing is certain in this game, and if Team USA loses focus then Argentina are strong enough to pose a dangerous threat.
The defensive displays by Team USA until now have been reasonably good on the whole. They have pressured opposition and claimed continuous turn-overs. However, it has been highlighted that the side has had lapses in concentration defensively that has led to unneeded pressure.
In the exhibition game prior to the Olympics between these two sides, Team USA maintained a clear lead for much of the game. However, they were never able to put the game to rest as they lost concentration defensively and seemed to think they could just cruise their way to the win.
Argentina will no doubt try to be more intense in this game, as will the United States. If Team USA can even put in an average performance they should be too much for the threat posed by Argentina.
Team USA: Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Tyson Chandler, Carmelo Anthony, Deron Williams, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Andre Iguodala, James Harden, Anthony Davis
Argentina: Pablo Prigioni, Manu Ginobili, Carlos Delfino, Andres Nocioni, Luis Scola, Juan Gutierrez, Leonardo Gutierrez, Facundo Campazzo, Federico Kammerichs, Marcos Mata, Martin Leiva, Hernan Jasen
