The USA kick off their CONCACAF Gold Cup 2013 campaign tonight in Portland, Ore. And are expected to come out comfortable winners against Belize.

The United States will be looking at this year's Gold Cup with renewed optimism to go further than they have in recent tournaments. In the past five Gold Cups the USA has made the semifinals four times. In the last tournament they got through to the last four only to lose out to Mexico.

This year they are again one of the favorites to go deep into the competition, and tonight should in theory be a good warm up to some of their more difficult games coming up.

Earlier this year there was much talk about troubles in the USA camp, with coach Jurgen Klinsmann looking in a bad way after the United States struggled with a series of their World Cup 2014 Qualifiers.

They also did not impress in numerous international friendlies, but they have now seemed to have turned the corner and are looking forward with renewed optimism.

Although Klinsmann has selected many second string players there is more than enough talent in the team that Team USA should be able to gain a good win tonight.
