Feb. 10 is a special day to release the device since it also will be the launch of the new 3D version of Star Wars in theaters . It will drop on this date in all markets, according to Verizon's internal system.

Specifications on the Droid 4 include a set similar to that of its predecessor. It will have a 4-inch qHD display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and Android 2.3.5 with an Ice Cream Sandwich update coming soon.

Verizon officially introduced the Droid 4 at this year's Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The carrier describes it as "the thinnest and most powerful 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone offering the power and capabilities to handle even the most demanding lifestyles."

It stands out among its Android counterparts since it is one of the few new high-end handsets that still includes a physical keyboard, something many smartphone owners miss once they switch to an all-touch device.

The Droid 4 was introduced alongside the Droid Razr Maxx at CE which launched at the end of last month.

The Droid Razr Maxx is a slight upgrade from the original version rather than a full redesign. It is slightly thicker than the original Razr thanks to the battery and caused Verizon to drop the Razr's price to $169.99. This Droid Razr Maxx smartphone currently retails at $299.99 with a new contract.
