A veteran Missouri police officer who was involved in maintaining security in the troubled community of Ferguson has been placed on administrative leave after he declared "I am a killer" in an inflammatory video in which he called Supreme Court justices "sodomites" and President Barack Obama an "illegal alien."

The officer, identified as Dan Page, is also a retired military veteran, according to a CNN report. Page, who works with the St. Louis County Police Department, was seen on CNN earlier this month pushing the network's Don Lemon as he reported on protests in Ferguson over the shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown by Officer Darren Wilson.

According to CNN, St. Louis County police officials said they found Page's rant highlighted on YouTube earlier this year "so bizarre" they have removed him from his post in the department and are investigating in a process that might include a psychological evaluation.

"(I) apologize to the community and anybody who is offended by these remarks, and understand from me that he ... does not represent the rank-and-file of the St. Louis County Police Department," Police Chief Jon Belmar told CNN.

In the video that goes on for more than an hour, Page declared that Muslims are a group of oath keepers, and said: "They will kill you."

He also points to recommendations in an old USA Today article in which he says former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens wanted to make drastic changes to the U.S. Constitution. He calls Stevens a "sodomite" and then said there are "four sodomites on the Supreme Court."

He also references a visit to the African nation of Kenya, which he calls "our undocumented president's home." Page then referrs to Obama as "that illegal alien who claims to be our president."

He noted that he did his "fair share of killing," during nine combat tours, adding: "I personally believe the Lord Jesus Christ is my Savior, but I'm also a killer. I've killed a lot, and if I need to, I will kill a whole bunch more."

"If you don't want to get killed, don't show up in front of me," he said.
