Veterans Day Movie Premieres (TRAILERS)

Veterans Day sees a wide variety of films entering theaters and the weekend openings are predicted to score high earnings in the box office.

An offering for “tweens” everywhere, "The Greening of Whitney Brown" follows a spoiled pre-teen who relocates from a city to her family’s farm in the country. The film stars Sammi Hanratty as well as Brooke Shields and Aidan Quinn and will be in theaters everywhere Friday.

Clint Eastwood’s bio-drama on the first director of the FBI, “J. Edgar,” is also hitting the big screen Friday. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as he portrays Hoover, the instrumental character in founding the FBI. Hoover was feared, admired and reviled during his 50-year reign as director, and the details of his personal life could have destroyed his image and career.

“J. Edgar” is derived from a screenplay by Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black. The film debuted at midnight previews Thursday and opens in theaters everywhere on Veterans Day. See the trailer here.

Actors Adam Sandler and David Spade make their way back to the silver screen in “Jack and Jill,” opening in theaters Friday. The holiday comedy also sees Tim Meadows and Al Pacino – as a family hosts their passive-aggressive and needy relative during her Thanksgiving visit.

In “Melancholia,” actress Kirsten Dunst portrays an unsatisfied bride at her decadent wedding while a planet threatens to collide with Earth. HBO’s “True Blood” star Alexander Skarsgard appears in the Lars von Trier psychological disaster movie, in theaters Friday. Watch the trailer here.

Originally released at film festivals, “Like Crazy” follows a British college student separated from her American love when she is deported for overstaying her visa. Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin star in the film, which hits select theaters Friday. Watch the trailer for this weekend’s love story here.

The action and adventure film “Immortals” is set to be a weekend box office hit this Veterans Day with its 3D viewing option. Released Friday, the story of a brutal and bloodthirsty king in Greece battling one man who accepts his role in one final attempt to save humanity.

With several news films to choose from, previously-released movies are still available for viewing in theaters as well. Released two weeks ago, “Puss In Boots” continues to do well in the box office, and released last month, Brad Pitt’s “Moneyball” is still raking in earnings.
