'Vikings' Season 3 Spoilers, Plot News: Actress Katheryn Winnick Talks Lagertha's Plans in Latest Season

"Vikings" Lagertha is no shrinking violet. While she's a hard worker and completely devoted to her family, she's a woman who will not tolerate any wrong doings. When her husband Ragnar fathered a child out of wedlock, she divorced him right away. And when her second husband physically abused her, she fought back and stabbed him. Like the men in the hit History Channel show, Lagertha is a force to be reckoned with.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with Katheryn Winnick, who plays Lagertha in the show, and the actress shared what her character will be up to in season 3. Winnick said that she felt a connection with the character.

"I have always been a bulldog in a blonde-haired little girl's body," she revealed. "They showed her in her home life, as a young mother and a wife. But she's also a warrior."

The actress told the website that she started studying taekwondo at the age of 7 and got her first black belt at the age of 13. She also started a martial arts school when she was 16 and by the time she was 21, she already had three schools.

As for Lagertha's plans at the beginning of season 3, Winnick said she's looking to help her people.

"She's an ambitious woman. She knows if she starts a settlement in Wessex, she'll be able to help her people. And then King Ecbert opens up her eyes and shows her a different world she hasn't really seen," she said.

Winnick reveals that Lagertha will leave her territory to her second in command, Kalf, because she trusts him.

"But there's always a struggle when you have authority," she added.

The show has gained a lot of fans since its premiere season, and Winnick says that she's happy since a lot has changed since the show's pilot.

"When I first got hired for this, I went online and tried to find Lagertha. There was almost nothing. Maybe a little saga or a poem, not even a Wikipedia page. In three years, it's changed. There are dogs named Lagertha! Kittens named Lagertha! I love it!"

"Vikings" Season 3 airs on Thursdays at 10/9c on The History Channel.
