'Vikings' Season 4 Premiere Date Confirmed for Feb. 18

"Vikings" season 4 is all set to premiere on Feb. 18, and the new installment is expected to pick up from where the previous season left off.

History Channel originally ordered 16 episodes for "Vikings" season 4, but the network has just added another four episodes for Michael Hirst's series. The Irish-Canadian historical drama TV series will be aired every Thursday for 10 weeks and will have a short hiatus before the remaining episodes are shown, according to the Lawyer Herald.

Based on the latest spoilers for "Vikings" season 4, Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) will come home to Kattegat seriously ill after his epic victory in the battle in Paris. The possibility of his death will jolt Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland), Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), and other potential successors to the throne, the report details.

There will be a lot of new things that will happen in the upcoming installment. Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) will be arrested after what he did to Christian priest Athelstan, while Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) will continue to fight for power with Kalf (Ben Robson).

Rollo (Clive Standen), on the other hand, will turn his back on his Vikings heritage and stay in Frankie. He is also set to marry a member of the French royal family, the Inquisitr reports.

Meanwhile, the fourth season will also showcase Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson as a guest star in "Vikings" season 4's premiere episode. Donaldson will portray the character of Nordic warrior Hoskuld.

While season 4 still has not premiered, Winnick hinted in an Instagram post on Jan. 16 that filming for season 5 is already underway. The renewal for a fifth season has not yet been confirmed, but the crew is assumed to have finished shooting for season 4 last year.

As of now, there is still no word on when the second part of season 4 will be aired. More information about the Nordic series is expected to surface in the next few weeks.

"Vikings" season 4 will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 10 p.m. ET on History Channel.
