The announcement was released Friday via PR Newswire. The report stated that the reality star has dealt with health and anxiety issues since he was a teen. Guadagnino hopes to use his past to help inspire others as part of the Half of Us campaign.

MTV reported that anxiety issues are manifested in “feelings of isolation, irritability and helplessness, as well as physical symptoms such as insomnia and panic attacks.”

One user thought that the star’s departure for anxiety was a bit of a hoax. “Vinnie seems to have a loving, supportive family, friends,” 2Real4Ya said on the MTV site. “And he has anxiety? I'm sorry...I'm not buying it.”

But other users suggest that the star may actually be able to contribute a helping hand. “Vinny taught me something tonight. I have wrestled with anxiety for over 5 years now,” IamAwesome247 wrote. “I am going to take steps in recovering myself and ask for help, this episode really was amazing and taught me much about myself.”

"We all have hard times when we feel stressed or anxious, but if those feelings are interfering with your life -- school, work, relationships -- you need to reach out for help," Guadagnino said in support of his new mission to help others deal.

“Half of Us” was launched in 2006 by The Jed Foundation and mtvU, MTV's college network, with the intent of raising awareness to emotional health as a serious issue. It is a part of the Jed Foundation -- an organization that works to reduce emotional distress and prevent suicide among college students.
