'Walking Dead' Prequel 'Cobalt' Details, Plot Leak; Companion Series to Start in LA
While AMC's hit post-apocalyptic series "Walking Dead" is away for its Season 5 second half break, TV news now points out to its spin-off show allegedly called "Cobalt."
While the drama is still in its pilot stage, sources for The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the previous rumors that the companion series is indeed a prequel to the main show.
As further revealed by THR, "Cobalt" will be set somewhere in Los Angeles area at the dawn of the zombie apocalypse.
The publication explained that for non-comic readers, Robert Kirkman, the genius behind the TWD graphic novels, has never yet explored the origins of the apocalypse.
They went on to say that an insider hinted them of a primary character (from "Walking Dead") set to appear "during a key season one episode" of the show.
Speaking of its characters, Decider.com revealed that Cliff Curtis is set to star as Sean Cabrera. Sean is a divorced teacher who shares custody of his son with ex. The female lead character said to be named as Nancy Tomkins will play as the school's guidance counselor. The role hasn't found its actress yet.
"AMC has yet to commit to the series beyond pilot, but unless something goes horribly awry, it's hard to imagine the show not making it to air," Decider wrote.
Co-writing with Kirkman for the pilot is Dave Erickson of "Sons of Anarchy." They are also set to executive produce the show alongside TWD's Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert.
