"War Of The Planet Of The Apes" Release Date Rumors: Close to Casting Human Lead, Filming to Start in October

In this time of reboots and sequels, it is difficult to predict whether one film franchise will be successful or not. It ultimately depends on so many factors and timing may be one of them. This may be the case with the movie franchise "Planet of the Apes," which is set to soon work on the latest installment to the franchise entitled "War Of The Planet Of The Apes" for release in summer 2017.

According to a report in Deadline, the 20th Century Fox film franchise is close to casting one of the film's human leads (there will be two human leads). Young American actor Gabriel Chavarria is said to be in talks with the studio. Chavarria is known for his role in the Hulu television series "East Los High" and he is set to appear in the upcoming film "Low Riders." In "Low Riders," he plays a teenager who is caught in the crossfire between his older gangbanger brother and his father, who are both competing in the annual lowrider "Supershow" in East L.A.

Andy Serkis is returning to reprise his role as one of the main non-human characters, Caesar. He will do this using motion-capture technology as he did in the previous films.

In an IGN report, it was cited that the film is aiming to start production in October in Vancouver. Matt Reeves, who also directed the 2014 "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," will be returning to helm this latest installment. Reeves will also be writing the screenplay with Mark Bomback. The film's producers will be Peter Chernin, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.

The film is the third installment of what is considered to be a reboot of the franchise, which started with "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" released in 2011, followed by "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" released in 2014. The first film earned around $481.8 million while the second film earned double, at almost $708.8 million in the box office.
