'Watchmen' News: HBO Orders Pilot
HBO is bringing "Watchmen" as one of their new drama series.
"The Leftovers" creator Damon Lindelof will collaborate with HBO in making an adaptation drama series of "Watchmen," based on the original DC Comics by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, Variety confirmed.
HBO has committed in preparing back up scripts for the pilot series just a day after Lindelof hinted on Instagram that the project for "Watchmen" has already begun.

Lindelof shared a photo of a miniature statue on Instagram that was modelled to liken an image from the comic series, with the caption, "Day One." The photo appeared to be taken in the middle of a writers' room.
HBO could not have gotten a better showrunner for "Watchmen" because the producer-screenwriter grew up reading the comics, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. Lindelof also admitted that the DC comic series still influences his work up to this day.
In an old interview with Comic Book Resources, Lindelof reveals that the elements of "Watchmen," such as flashbacks, non-linear storytelling, and deeply flawed protagonists, are things that he tries to apply in everything that he writes.
This means that Lindelof is one that understands "Watchmen" the most, aside from Moore and Gibbons.
The producer also praised Zack Snyder's version of the DC comic series, saying it was an adaptation closest to the original comics that could have been created, the Observer reported.
However, it seems that creating an adaptation of "Watchmen" that many will understand is not a priority of Lindelof.
Lindelof admits that he wants to keep his version closest to the original comic series as well, and that he doesn't mind if people will not understand it because it probably means that "they don't deserve to understand" the story.
"Watchmen" follows the story of heroes — Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, and Rorschach — who discover a huge conspiracy while trying to figure out who murdered one of their own.
More details about HBO's "Watchmen" are yet to be announced.
