'Wayward Pines' Season 1 Recap, Episode Spoilers: Ethan Bonds and Reveals His Plan of Escape to Beverly

Despite the stiff competition it faced on its May 14 premiere airing, the M. Night Shyamalan-helmed season kickstarter of the new thriller-mystery TV drama series "Wayward Pines" enjoyed "the highest percentage gain of any Fox debut ever."

Titled "Where Paradise is Home," the new series, co-exec produced by Shyamalan, Donald De Line ("Pretty Woman") , Ashwin Rahan, and Chad Hodge, introduced a Secret Service Agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) looking for his two fellow agents who gone missing on the mountainous town of Idaho.

A terrible car accident happened and he found himself under the care of a certain Dr. Jenkins (Toby Jones) and the creepy assistant nurse, Pam (Melissa Leo).

After he got out of the hospital, Ethan met a bartender named Beverly (Juliette Lewis) who gave him an address.

There he found the rotting corpse of the missing Agent and immediately reported it to a local sheriff. Ethan then went back to the bar to look for Beverly and got confused when patrons told him there's no one that they knew of that name.

After an escalated incident, he soon find himself again at the Wayward Pines Hospital and was given with a sedative. Just as he was about to be wheeled down, Beverly came to rescue Ethan out of the establishment.

Ethan later on found the other lost agent, Kate Hewson (Carla Gugino) who happens to be his former lover.

Things got more confusing when Kate spoke about the life she'd live in town, which totally contradicts to what is real.

The episode culminates with Ethan stealing a car in order to escape the town, only to pass through it several times. He decided to walk on foot and saw a sign that reads: "Return to Wayward Pines. Beyond this Point You Will Die." Sheriff Pope (Terrence Howard) showed up and escorted him back to town.

According to spoiler reports, the next episode titled "Do Not Discuss Your Life Before" will see Ethan and Beverly bonding and carrying out their plans together to escape Wayward Pines.

Hodge teased (via Latin Post) about something "shocking and huge" that will happen in episode 2.

"Wayward Pines" Season 1 airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on FOX.
