'Wayward Pines' Season 2 Spoiles: John Patric Cast as Dr. Theo Yedlin

"Wayward Pines" season 2 will include "The Lost Boys" star Jason Patric who will play a new lead character in the series.

FOX recently announced that Jason Patric has been cast as Dr. Theo Yedlin in "Wayward Pines" season 2. His character is a surgeon who will rise to the call of leadership and help the residents of the queer town survive in the chaotic world they are in, according to Zap 2 It.

In a press release by FOX, the network revealed that "Wayward Pines" season 2 will pick up some time after what happened in the finale of season 1. It can be remembered that the first season ended with the residents' fight with the First Generation, who wanted to take over the town, the report relays.

The First Generation is a group of children and teenagers who first found out the secret of the town before the adults discovered it. They already knew that the Wayward Pines residents were living in the year 4028 and are the last surviving humans in the planet.

The other humans had already evolved into "abbies" or aberrations. These creatures are driven by their thirst to kill, the report teases.

Based on the teaser released by FOX, Dr. Yedlin is a new resident of the town who will wake up from suspended animation to find a rebellion going on around him. He will try to understand the character of Wayward Pines and will do what he could to help the human race survive, Design & Trend reports.

"Jason is an incredibly grounded and believable actor," executive producer M. Night Shyamalan said of the new cast member. "I'm so excited for audiences to see what he brings to the world of 'Wayward Pines.'"

While it is not yet known who woke up Dr. Yedlin, there are some speculations that it could be Ben (Charlie Tahan) or Amy (Sarah Jeffery). There may be no surviving adults in "Wayward Pines" season 2, but there are fans who hope that Pam (Melissa Leo) and Kate (Carla Gugino) will still be there.

"Wayward Pines" season 2 is slated for a spring premiere this year on FOX.
