'Wayward Sisters' Spoilers: Executive Producers Tease 'Supernatural' Spinoff
The female-led "Supernatural" spin-off series titled "Wayward Sisters" is slated to air next year. Here are the latest details about the upcoming show revealed by the executive producers.
"This is an opportunity to do something in the world of Supernatural that has some of the sensibilities of Supernatural but addresses a lot of issues, scenarios, and characters that are very different," executive producer Andrew Dabb said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"Wayward Sisters" follows the story of a group of women with unfortunate encounters with the supernatural. The late Jimmy Novak's daughter Kathryn Love Newton stars as Claire. She is under the supervision of sheriffs Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and Donna Hanscum (Donna Hanscum). All of whom have been introduced in the original series, and have appeared throughout the past seasons.

In "Wayward Sisters," these women will be their own kind of monster-slaying force.
Executive Producer Robert Berens said that the series stars when Claire returns home. After venturing out into the world, flying solo, a crisis will force her back into the Wayward family. Though it has the same tone as "Supernatural," everything takes place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
According to Dabb, they opted to settle down with one particular location so as to create a real community, allow its characters to experience romance and even rivalry.
Rhodes made it pretty clear that "Wayward Sisters" is not "Supernatural with girls" but "Supernatural with heroes that happen to be female."
The actress said that viewers will eventually understand why the Winchester brothers, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles), will not drop by to help them take on their supernatural enemies. Nevertheless, there will always be an opportunity for them to swing by and help out.
