According to Compulsion Games, "We Happy Few" is a horror survival game set in 1960s England. The dystopian nature of the game is focused around its people and their constant use of "Joy," the drug that helps them function in a state of denial. The player must go through post-war Wellington Wells where its citizens can detect if a person is not on Joy.

"We Happy Few" is a game of stealth, combat and survival in order to escape. The game will supposedly have a mature story where heroes have compelling backstories together with the drug-tripping citizens of Wellington Wells as their background.

The main protagonist in "We Happy Few" is Arthur Hastings who has decided taking Joy is not for him. Without the drug haze, he discovers that Wellington Wells is not a world of rainbows and sunshine as the drug ought it to be. The goal is to survive and progress through the game without being discovered as a "Downer" or folks who have not taken Joy as other citizens are not so welcoming to them.

In addition to surviving and adapting to the skewed social norms, players will have to race against time. Taking too much time to escape will result in an impossible escape. Another interesting feature is the absence of a save feature in "We Happy Few."

Those who do not survive in "We Happy Few" will regenerate in a brand new city and players may choose from different characters with their varied sets of skills necessary to survive the Joy-infested city. "We Happy Few" is currently out on Early Access in Steam, Xbox One Game Preview, GOG.com Games in Development, and the Humble Store for $30.

'We Happy Few' Origin, System Requirements

"We Happy Few" was funded by a Kickstarter campaign that was started on July 4, 2015. Raking in more than $300,000 CAD and more than 7,000 backers, the game is gearing up to be fully developed. Each funding goal that Compulsion Games receive is another feature to be added in "We Happy Few."

"We Happy Few" may only be played in Windows 7. Computers must have at least 4GB RAM, Triple-core Intel, NVIDA GeForce 280 GTX or AMD Radeon 6750 HD series and 8GB of har drive space.
