What are Some Things God's Word Says about Investing and Money

Is investing using Biblically Responsible methods a priority to you? Do you believe God owns it all; our time, talents and money? If your answer is yes, then you need to be careful about the companies in which you invest your IRA, Mutual Fund or Brokerage Account. Question the companies in which you invest and make sure they are not providing domestic partner benefits(which promotes sex outside of marriage), or contribute to organizations that contradict God’s Word (such as planned parenthood), or advertise in publications or during T.V. programs that promote anti-family values and lifestyles. I recommend that you analyze the mutual funds and stocks you buy to make sure they are not heavily exposed to anti-Christian activities.

Are you spending time in God’s Word everyday? We need to seek His will for every part of our lives, including our investments. If you need direction, sometimes it’s best to stop, take a deep breath and go directly to God’s Word for your guidance. For believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, it only makes sense to go to God’s Word to see what it says about money. Now, I don’t mean that we just look up the word “money;” there are several areas we need to focus on when looking at this topic. Here are a few examples:

Counsel- Proverbs 19:20, “Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.”
Ownership- Haggai 2:8, “The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the LORD Almighty. “
Paying God First- Proverbs 3:9-10, “Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”
Staying Out of Debt- Proverbs 22:7, “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.”
Developing Habits of Frugality- Luke 16:10 "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”
Being a Generous Person- Proverbs 11:25, “A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”
Saving- Proverbs 6:6-11, “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.”
Investing- Ecclesiastes 11:2, “Give portions to seven, yes to eight, for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.”
Leaving an Inheritance- Proverbs 13:22, “A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous.”
Teaching Your Children About Money- Deuteronomy 11:18-19, “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
Being Honest- Proverbs 20:23, “The LORD detests differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him.”
