When I Obey God, Will Good Things Always Happen?

I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. Psalm 119:60

Isn't it nice when people say good things about you? Imagine God saying something good about you! Here is what God said about a man named Job: " . . . This man was blameless and upright" (Job 1:1). Job was a man who obeyed God with all his heart.

Since Job loved God and chose to obey Him, did that mean good things always happened to Job? No! His animals were stolen. His servants were killed. His ten children died in a storm. Wow! Job lost everything. He didn't know why God let all those bad things happen. But God gave Job the strength to get through those problems..

When you choose to obey God, even in the hard times, others see the special strength God gives you. Problems could turn you away from God. Instead, God uses problems to help you trust Him more and more. God promises He will never leave you (Hebrews 13:5). Remembering that will help you when bad things happen.

It would be great if everything would always be wonderful for those who choose to obey God. But things won't always be great–they weren't for Job. Job learned that God would get him through very bad days. You need to learn that, too.
