Whitney Houston Biopic to Star Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson and Halle Berry?

A Whitney Houston biopic is reportedly in the works and Idris Elba, Anthony Mackie, Jennifer Hudson and Halle Berry are reportedly some of the Hollywood stars being considered to star in the film.

According to The Urban Daily, producers are looking to cast Elba, 40-year-old British actor most known for his role on "The Wire," as Houston's ex-husband Bobby Brown. However, 34-year-old "8 Mile" actor Anthony Mackie is also reportedly being considered for the role, according to The Urban Daily.

For the role of Houston, recording artist and actress who died at age 48 last February, actresses Jennifer Hudson and Halle Berry are reportedly being considered, according to the website. While no major film studio or production staff have been confirmed for the film, other actresses have expressed interest in portraying Houston.

Brandy Norwood, a good friend of Houston's who co-starred with the late singer in the television movie "Cinderella," spoke about a desire to star in her biopic.

"My dream role is to play Whitney Houston. Of course she would have to sing all the songs but I would love to play Miss Whitney," Norwood said in an interview with TrueExclusives.com. "I have her entire personality down pat, her '-isms' down pat. No offense ladies, there's a lot of talented ladies out there but nobody can play Whitney Houston like me."

However, another actress has expressed an interest in taking on the Houston role despite Norwood's desire. Meagan Good, a Christian actress who recently appeared in the movie "Think Like a Man," told Vibe Vixen that Houston was open to seeing a biopic on her life unfold.

"I want to do Whitney Houston's life story. I think that would be an incredible story to do," Good said in an interview before Houston's death. "I talked to Whitney a little bit about it, and she's open to it, so I want to see what happens with that. Hopefully, in the very, very near future."
