Why Do People Complain?

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Do you ever say things like, "This is a dumb assignment; I don't see why we have to do it." "You never choose me. It's my turn." "Are we having that for dinner again? I hate it!" "Do this! Do that! Why do I have to do so much work?" "How come he gets to go, but I don't?"

Complain! Complain! Complain! When you complain, you forget God is in control. You forget God loves you. You forget God promised to give you whatever you need. Complaining shows you are selfish. Complaining makes you unhappy, and other people do not want to be around you. It is impossible to complain and please God at the same time. Why? Because God says, "Be joyful always" and "give thanks in all circumstances."
