Why Should I Obey God When Others Don't?

Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16

Why should you bother doing what's right when other people seem to get away with doing wrong? A long time ago a man named Asaph was unhappy. Many people were getting away with the wrong things they were doing. He told God how angry he was. He asked God to help him understand.

God helped Asaph, and he began to see things God's way. He learned that God wanted him to do right even when others were getting away with doing wrong. He knew that God wanted him to be different.

You should be different than the people who don't belong to God. His Holy Spirit will help you have the power to obey even when it is hard. God has promised you good things in your life when you do right. He has also promised you a reward in Heaven.

Keep doing what you know is right even though other people might be doing wrong. It may seem like some people are getting away with doing wrong, but someday God will make everything right. Ask God to help you see things His way. The Bible says, "Let us not become weary in doing good . . ." (Galatians 6:9).
