Why Should I Trust God?

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Have you ever looked at an American dollar bill? These important words are printed on it: "In God we trust." The men and women who founded America knew that God is trustworthy. He deserves our trust–our faith. There aren't too many things in our world that are trustworthy. Things that you buy will eventually break or wear out. Even people that you love are not always deserving of your trust.

But God is always trustworthy. That's because God cannot lie–He always keeps His promises. And God also has power to do what He says He will do. When God tells you to cast your care on Him because He cares for you–you can trust Him. When God says, "I know the plans I have for you . . . plans to prosper [help] you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future," you can trust Him.

God has always been faithful to do what He says. The Bible says, " . . . he [God] who promised is faithful" (Hebrews 10:23). No matter what happens, you can trust God. He knows all about your life and He is working out His plan. Don't worry. Don't doubt. Trust God, who is trustworthy!
