Why This Man Gave Up $37 Million NFL Contract Will Have You Believe in Humanity Again
Across the country, legions of young football players long to make it to the big time, to get that super-huge multimillion dollar contract with the NFL.
Jason Brown did just that. In 2009, Brown got a $37 million contract to play with the St. Louis Rams. But then one day he decided to walk away from it.
The reason? Brown decided that he was meant for something greater, specifically to be a farmer whose products feed the needy.

In an interview with CBS Evening News, Brown explained that he became a farmer in North Carolina because he wanted to be great "in God's eyes," not "man's eyes."
"When I think about a life of greatness, I think about a life of service," explained Brown, whose first crop was harvested in 2014.
Brown's farm, dubbed "First Fruits Farm," donates a portion of its harvest to food pantries so as to feed the hungry and the needy of society.
