There have been many concerns on whether the movie adaption will be able to bring justice to the original musical stage production. In addition, fans have been asking whether actress Idina Menzel will be taking on the role of Elphaba, once again.

Meanwhile, it was revealed by producer of "Into the Woods," Marc Platt, that the adaptation of "Wicked" will soon be released in theaters. He said to Movie Pilot, "2016 is the goal, but I don't know whether we'll make that goal or not. We will make the movie, but like I said, the bar is really high. We're going to scrutinise our work on the screenplay and our prep on the movie, and when we feel like it's ready, okay. We're not going to shoot a release date is what I'm saying. It's in the works, it's not in a rush. It took 27 years to make Into the Woods into a film from its original stage production, and 30 years with Les Mis. Some things take time for a reason."

While the release date announced by Platt is expected for the next of couple of years, there are reports stating that this might not be the case, since it will take much complexity to bring the stage presence into the big screen.

However, fans can expect that the music will be featured in the film. Unfortunately, it was revealed that not all the songs from the original Broadway musical will be included in the upcoming film, since it will have to run at a shorter time.

Another sad news revealed that Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth will not be taking on their roles as Elphaba and Galinda, respectively, since they are too old for the roles.
