Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith Reportedly Started Divorce Rumors for Publicity

Star Magazine is reporting that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith started rumors about the two splitting in a ploy to gain publicity for Pinkett-Smith's television show, "HawthoRNe," according to Gossipcop.com.

The medical drama on TNT was cancelled in September after three seasons, shortly after rumors began circulating just this summer that the Hollywood A-list couple was breaking up after 13 years of marriage.

However, the two have denied the rumors and insisted that they have no plans of splitting up.

In a statement released to "Entertainment Tonight," Will and Jada stated, "Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact."

Star Magazine is allegedly reporting that the couple may have started the rumors not only as a last-minute effort to save "HawthoRNe's" ratings, but also because "Jada's been complaining that she and Will are starting to look like the Brady Bunch, with all the kids stepping into the spotlight," and that she feels the public views her relationship with Will as "too family-friendly" and "too boring," according to Clutchmagonline.com.

Will Smith gained notoriety and fame in the early 1990s through his hit show, "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," and went on to star in major blockbusters afterwards such as "Independence Day," "Enemy of the State," and "Wild Wild West." Jada Pinkett-Smith is most known for her roles in "The Matrix" sequels as well as the TV series "A Different World."

The two are parents to Jayden Smith, 13, and Willow Smith, 10, both of whom decided to follow in their parents' footsteps by entering show business. Jayden made his film debut acting alongside his father in "The Pursuit of Happyness" and has since gone on to star in films such as "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "The Karate Kid." Willow has taken to the recording studio and released her debut single, "Whip My Hair," in 2010, which received welcoming reviews.
