Windows 8 Developer Tablets Now Available on eBay

Samsung tablet computers with Windows 8 installed on them are now up for sale on eBay.

The tablets were given out to developers last week at Microsoft’s BUILD conference where they were given an opportunity to test the new operating system on the touch screen device.

The devices are being advertised on the site as Windows 8 BUILD developer tablets and are starting at prices around $2,000 going up to $3,500.

The move by developers was predicted by analysts last week who knew that the Windows 8 tablets would hit eBay sometime after they were given out at BUILD.

The tablets were given to developers in order for them to begin to create apps for Windows 8’s new Metro platform of touch-enabled software.

The tablet being used to debut Windows 8 is based on the Samsung Series 7 Slate which was first introduced in August of this year.

It features unique components including additional sensors and ports, and a 3G-capable radio for wireless connectivity to the Internet. It also comes with a free one-year 3G contract with AT&T.

This Samsung tablet runs on a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor which is also used in some of Apple’s Mac Book Airs.

eBay’s records show that over twelve tablets that were distributed at BUILD were sold on the site since September 14. The tablets went for anywhere between $1,800 and $4,000.

Developers are looking to cash in by selling their Window 8 tablets and develop on another device or desktop.

The Samsung Slate will be available on October 2 and will go for anywhere between $1,099 and $1,349.

Windows 8 is expected to be officially released sometime in 2012 with the beta version being available sometime in the near future.

Microsoft hopes to achieve a high level of success with Windows 8 in the tablet computer market.
