'Winds Of Winter' Release Date Rumors: Expected Early Next Year

Avid fans of "Game of Thrones" are on the constant lookout for details regarding the release date of the highly anticipated sixth novel in George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series, "Winds of Winter."

According to Parent Herald, Martin allegedly confirmed that the release date will take place before the season 6 premiere of "Game of Thrones," the TV adaptation of the book that airs on HBO. The season is reported to air in mid-March to early April, which also signifies that the book could be finished already any time prior to the airing.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Martin stated that he was putting his focus on completing the "Winds of Winter" and wishes to release it.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish," he said. The author said that he has turned down two convention appearances just to get things done and that his jam-packed schedule and book signings are affecting his writing.

But even though there has been no announcement of a definite release date, fans of the saga assume that "Winds of Winter" is on its way to completion and will be ready to be shipped out any time soon. This assumption came from a blog post from GRRM himself wherein he wrote about a travel to New York and New Jersey and added, "while I will be travelling, my army of minions will be here at the old homestead, toiling in the paper mines."

Fans have interpreted the phrase to be somewhat a discreet announcement of the series already in the printing process. These remain to be rumors though as GRRM himself just recently said that he is still working on getting the book together and is uncertain as to when is the exact date of the release.
