George R.R. Martin to Release New Book This September?

George R.R. Martin's "The Winds of Winter" was originally slated for release six years ago. To the disappointment of fans, the book still has not been released until now. While some fans have already lost their enthusiasm for the novel, rumors are now swirling that the sixth book in Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series will finally be released in September.

The renowned author will celebrate his 69th birthday in September this year, and there are speculations that he will launch the much awaited book on that day as a gift to his fans. Previously, rumors came out that Martin will launch the book in September next year as he celebrates his 70th birthday, but recent reports claim that the launch will happen a year earlier.

Martin has not yet announced when "The Winds of Winter" will be out but he has been posting snippets of his book on his official website to tease fans since 2010. In May last year, he posted an excerpt from the book featuring the princess of Dorne, Arianne, and another character from the House of Martell.

In the excerpt, Arianne sets out on a journey to the southern coast and describes the towns she and the other character come across throughout their journey. The chapter also features Ser Daemon Sand as he asks the princess to take him to Storm's End. However, Arianne tells him that it is her mission and not his.

The other excerpts posted by Martin prior to Arianne's passage featured Sansa Stark, Aeron Greyjoy ad Arya Stark.

According to Martin, "The Winds of Winter" will start with a bang. "I'm going to open with the two big battles that I was building up to the battle in the ice and the battle at Meereen — the battle of Slaver's Bay. And then take it from there," he said.

The author has yet to announce the official release date of the sixth book in his novel series so fans should take all speculations with a grain of salt.
