Members of a Wisconsin church went to court Monday, seeking to place a temporary restraining order on their pastor while a leadership dispute is resolved.
Leaders from the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, a Milwaukee congregation, voted to dismiss the Rev. Carl W. Griffin from his position as head pastor earlier this year.
Griffin has refused to leave the church, telling the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel that his ousting was due to a small group of members rather than the will of the congregation.
If issued, the restraining order would have Griffin vacate the church building while the dispute over church leadership is being resolved.
The order would also force Griffin to turn over all church property presently in his possession.
Neither Griffin nor Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church returned calls from The Christian Post to comment on the matter.
