Wiz Khalifa was arrested in Tennessee for possession of marijuana before he was scheduled to perform a concert for a local university.

Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz, 24, was in Nashville where he was scheduled to headline at Vanderbilt University's Rites of Spring concert, according to local media reports.

Reports state that the front desk staff at the Holiday Inn hotel called police after receiving several complaints about marijuana smoke from numerous guests coming from room 725, where Khalifa was reportedly staying.

The front desk staff told authorities that they had already paid a visit to the room in question and told the room's occupants, Khalifa and friend Lonnie Howard, 27, about receiving several complaints.

Officers arrived on the scene and made their way to the seventh floor of the hotel and were greeted with a heavy aroma of marijuana.

Police explained that after they knocked on the door, it opened and authorities witnessed Khalifa toss the end of a marijuana cigarette out of the window.

Police then asked both men if there was any additional marijuana in the room to which both men stated that there was none. Police then searched the room and found additional marijuana on Howard.

The pair admitted later to having the marijuana and were issued summonses for the misdemeanor possession charge, police said.

Both men have until May 14 to show up at the Davidson County courthouse for booking on the charges.

Friend and fellow rapper Snoop Dogg was also recently cited for possession of marijuana. The rapper was charged with a minor drug offense after border patrol officers at a checkpoint in Texas discovered cannabis on the tour bus he was in.

Reports from the sheriff's office indicate that during the routine inspection a border patrol agent smelled marijuana coming from the tour bus. The agent then ordered everyone off the bus and searched the bus with the aid of a narcotics dog

He was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor which is typical for cases involving small amounts of marijuana.
