'Wolfenstein' 2 News: Game May be Getting a Sequel

Fans of the first-person shooter game "Wolfenstein" will be happy to hear this piece of news. According to a report in Digital Trends, this was revealed by one of the game's voice actors during an interview with a Polish TV network. The reveal may have been unintentional as the game's developer has yet to make an official announcement that a sequel is indeed in development.

The report cited voice actor Alicja Bachleda-Curus, who voiced a major character in the 2014 "Wolfenstein: The New Order," revealed during a TV interview that they are now "working on the second one," when asked about what other commitments she had in the pipeline. Bachleda-Curus played Anya Oliwa, a wounded nurse that the main protagonist BJ Blazkowicz encounters in the 2014 game. She also hinted that the game is still in the early stages of development and is estimated to arrive sometime in 2017.

Although she does not directly mention the name of the video game, the report cited that the only video game in the voice actor's previous projects is "Wolfenstein: The New Order."

Another hint she provided during the interview about the game is how she loved playing the game's earlier versions sometime in the 1980s and the 1990s. She specifically mentioned that she enjoyed "the moment when she could shoot Hitler." The "Wolfenstein" series is known for its protagonist's battle against Nazi powers.

"Wolfenstein: The New Order," which was released in 2014, is considered to be a "reboot" of the franchise. This sequel is set in an alternate universe where the Nazis and the Axis powers are in power after winning the second World War.

The game was made for all platforms including next-generation consoles. A prequel of sorts, called "Wolfenstein: The Old Blood" was released in 2015 but was actually considered as a "stand-alone" expansion pack of "The New Order." The franchise has switched developers and publishers since the first game came out in 1981. The latest release of the series "The Old Blood" was developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda Softworks.
