'Wolverine 3' Plot Rumors, News: Sequel Based on 'Old Man Logan' Storyline?

Details about the forthcoming third installment of the "Wolverine" movie are still being kept under wraps. However, a new plot rumour indicates just how "Wolverine 3" will send off the nearly-immortal mutant.

A recent scoop from Heroic Hollywood's El Mayimbe dropped the information that the upcoming title will be based from the comic storyline "Wolverine: Old Man Logan."

The source material, written by Mark Millar and drawn by Steve McNiven, talks about a dystopian future where nearly all superheroes have already been wiped out and supervillains are the ones who rule.

Around this time, Logan is living a quiet life with his wife and kids. Driven with needs, the character hooks up with Hawkeye, who is now blind, and is offered with a job to deliver a mysterious package across the country.

In his recent appearance on Popcorn Talk, Mayimbe reiterated that everything is just but "a rumor, not confirmed."

Nevertheless, if the Old Man Logan storyline is to be the basis for Wolverine 3, chances are, there'd still be a lot of details that will be adjusted for the big screen adaptation. However, the idea of featuring a retired Logan, taking a high-risk gig in a bleak era would certainly give the character a quite exciting sendoff.

"It'd allow Jackman to bring the character to a natural endpoint, and could make use of the fact that Jackman himself has aged over that time even if his character barely has. Moreover, its futuristic setting would let Wolverine 3 stand on its own without getting too tangled up with Fox's other Marvel movies," the site wrote.

"Wolverine 3" will be the last movie that actor Hugh Jackman will play the titular character.
