World Series Game 3 Preview: Giants vs. Royals

Game 2 of the World Series game between the San Francisco Giants and Kansas Royals ended with the Royals' 7-2 victory. The Giants have been snagged of their chance to go home from Kansas City with the supposed 2-0 victory.

While the score might be tied 1-1 between the two teams, the tension is fierce for either since they will need to win the next game and then another to move on from the World Series. The Giants have gone home to San Francisco after their loss to the Royals in Kansas City and manager Bruce Bochy feels good to be home again.

"It's good to be home. But we're not going to change how we play the game, and I'm sure they're not either. Every game is important when you're in a series," he said.

Bochy had entered the World Series with a mentality where he is expecting a fight from the Royals – or any other team for that matter – in every game. The internal struggle for the Giants at this very moment is how to handle the setup situation.

If the Giants want to win Game 3, their bullpen would have to deliver. In Game 2, Bochy had brought up four relievers during the sixth inning but Machi and Strickland did not deliver.

"It's not that he didn't put the right guys in the right spots. We still have to execute our pitches. And if we don't do that, it's not always going to work out. I think he had the right guys in the right spots. We just happened to leave balls where they could be hit. He made proper moves. We just didn't throw the pitches," Jeremy Affeldt said.

The Royals on the other hand would simply have to keep playing like they did in Game 2 if they want a chance at a 2-1 against the Giants.
