A woman in California has set the world record for the largest hips after they were measured at an astounding eight feet in circumference.

Mikel Ruffinelli, 39, of Los Angeles is a mother of four and wife of 10 years and set the new world record for World's Largest Hips, according to the World Record Academy.

The 420-pound Ruffinelli stands just stands at just 5'4". Her 40-inch waist is hard to notice, given that her hips are 100 inches, but she has no qualms about her appearance.

"I see no reason to diet because I don't have health problems … men don't fancy skinny girls, they like an hourglass figure," Ruffinelli said.

She first started noticing that her hips were increasing in size around age 22 soon after she gave birth to her first child. She understands why people gawk at her when she is in public, but has come to be comfortable with her body.

"I put it down to my pregnancies," she said. "I don't see why else the weight would go to my hips, although, I do eat lots … in the past, I was self-conscious about my hips. As I got older, I learned to love my body and now I'm not afraid to show it off," Ruffinelli told Fox News.

Ruffinelli also revealed that performing normal tasks can become difficult and that she has to make special accommodations in some instances, but that she would never change who she is.

"When I travel by plane or train I have to buy two seats because I can't fit…into one," Mikel revealed. "It gets quite expensive. I drive a truck rather than using public transport wherever possible, because it's big enough to fit all of me in. Going through tight spaces is sometimes a problem for me and I have to go through doorways sideways."
