'WWE' 2016 News and Updates: The Undertaker Returning for WrestleMania Bout; John Cena, Brock Lesnar His Potential Opponents

After a long hiatus of WrestleMania 32, "WWE" fans wondered whether The Undertaker would hang his hat for good or have one more match before saying goodbye. His retirement would be timely and reasonable, just as WWE enters its New Era.

However, recent rumors  suggest that The Undertaker may be sticking around for a farewell run, potentially against some of the best wrestlers of his time, at the grandest stage of them all—WrestleMania 33.

End of an era

The conversation on who is the greatest WWE superstar of all time would seem to go on forever. Every year, new stars grow beneath the same faces that run the industry. Names like Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock come to mind.

They might not be the best in terms of in-ring skills, but surviving in the world of sports entertainment does not only require a superstar to be good at wrestling itself. It also demands character and strong promos, in order for the pro-wrestler to get the crowd behind him/her.

That had been The Undertaker's job for decades, a man who had established himself as an icon in the WWE. He had a unique move set, a persona that captivated fans of all ages, and a WrestleMania win-streak that spans over 20 years.

The Undertaker vs John Cena

The streak was cut off by The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX, but The Undertaker had since redeemed himself with a win against Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 32.

However, the returning McMahon son was not supposed to be his opponent. John Cena, the eternal babyface of the company, was his original matchup. Cena was still nursing an injury back then, and WWE had to pit a fall-back option against The Phenom.

The dream match could still happen at WrestleMania 33, and it could have been teased in a recent WWE video listing the top 5 opponents they want Cena to face.

Hogan, Lesnar or Goldberg?

Hulk Hogan is also one of the possible 'Taker opponents, as he looks primed to return to the company. A rematch with Lesnar is also a viable option.

All but one superstar in the conversation had faced The Phenom in the ring—Goldberg. The WCW legend admired The Undertaker, and if given the chance, he said he wants to beat up the latter. That match might just happen at WrestleMania, even a potential Fatal 4-Way between 'Taker. Goldberg, Lesnar and Sting.
