'WWE 2K18' News: Gameplay Trailer Shows Off More of the Accessible Backstage Areas

Backstage areas are going to be more important in the new game

With a bigger than ever roster, redone visuals and even some new wrestling mechanics, it may be easy to overlook the fact that backstage areas are going to matter more in "WWE 2K18."

Fans would be well-served to keep that in mind, however, and a recently released gameplay trailer even gave viewers some hints of how chaotic things can get backstage.

Backstage brawls featuring different wrestlers were shown in the brief trailer.

</p><p>There was one sequence that featured Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns that seemingly brought fans back to a match the two wrestlers had earlier this year.</p><p>Former rivals for the Intercontinental Championship – The Miz and Dean Ambrose – were also featured fighting backstage, where Ambrose managed to drop The Miz on top of a parked car.</p><p>Other backstage encounters included in the trailer appear to be referencing some of the feuds going on in the WWE today.</p><p>United States Champion AJ Styles can be seen hitting his trademark move known as the "Styles Clash" on his current rival, "The Lone Wolf" Baron Corbin, on top of a car.</p><script src="https://player.anyclip.com/anyclip-widget/lre-widget/prod/v1/src/lre.js" pubname="christianpostcom" widgetname="0011r00002XMEVu_11109"></script><p>The trailer also featured Shane McMahon landing a few strikes on Kevin Owens with the latter falling hard onto the cold concrete floor.</p><p>Wrestling fans will be able to go backstage themselves and participate in their own traveling matches in "WWE 2K18."</p><p>Notably, the backstage areas are going to be more important not just because they can play host to chaotic encounters.</p><p>Detailed in an earlier <a href="https://wwe.2k.com/news/entries/wwe-2k18-mycareer" target="_blank">post</a> on the game's official website, MyCAREER mode is also getting a "free-roaming" backstage component that will provide players with more freedom. Players can do a variety of things while they are backstage in MyCAREER such as ask for interviews, talk to people in the company or even just interact with their fellow wrestlers.</p><p>Of course, players can also take part in backstage brawls as well even in MyCAREER mode.</p><p>"WWE 2K18" will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Oct. 17 and for the Nintendo Switch also sometime
